Kristie Smith is a Boorloo/Perth-based lighting designer for theatre, musical theatre, ballet and contemporary dance.
Her most recent work includes Raised in Big Spirit Country (Naomi Pigram & Black Swan State Theatre Co.), The Wild Between Stars: Ballet at the Quarry (West Australian Ballet), Same Time Next Week (written & directed by Scott McArdle) and Nocturnal (Brooke Leeder & Dancers). Both Nocturnal and Same Time Next Week took home multiple awards at the 2025 Performing Arts WA Awards, including Outstanding Lighting Design and Best Independent Production (Nocturnal ) and Best Production (Musicals & Operas) (Same Time Next Week).
Kristie previously acted as Head of Lighting & Audio Visual for the West Australian Ballet in 2024, Deputy Head of Lighting for nationally touring commercial musicals through 2022 and 2023 (SIX the Musical, MAMMA MIA! the Musical), followspot caller for Back to the Future the Musical (Australian production 2025) and as production mentor for the lighting students at WAAPA from 2019 to 2021. She graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2017 with a Bachelor of Performing Arts majoring in Lighting.
